HOW DID HTF END UP IN HONDURAS?

We were introduced to Fito & Sol De La O and their talented family in 2008. We thought we were in Honduras for a different mission altogether, but God had other plans. Immediately, our hearts were connected with a passion for missions and in particular, the children of Honduras.

Fito & Sol began to tell us of their dream to start a Christian school in the community of San Juan Pueblo and the rest is history! God instantly provided for this project and three months later, Mercy Christian Academy was built and equipped. MCA is now thriving with over 240 students, buzzing with laughter and the love of God!
Eventually, MCA began to teach their students about missions. They selected an area in the La Mosquitia jungle and began praying for the children. The school collected enough donations to bless 700 children with gifts, food, clothes and medicine. This mission was such a huge success, the children wanted to do it again!

THE MOUNTAINS OF ZAMBRANO

The next project was the children of the Zambrano mountains. Each visit, Fito & Sol felt the call of the Lord stronger and stronger to move to the Zambrano mountains to continue this ministry. Since 2015, they and their 3 children have been doing just that. Along with other missionaries that have jumped on board, they bless around 800 children and youth as well as many of their families in these mountains.
Bible lessons are given in village schools and communities. Community events are organized on our property such as children’s crusades, medical clinics, & seminars. Assistance is given with school supplies, clothing, food and other needed items.

God had His hand on this project from Day 1. When looking for property in San Francisco Soroguara, we were hoping for 3 acres. But, God had a bigger piece in mind totaling approximately 100 acres! With this blessing came the inspiration of planting coffee plants to provide jobs for the locals, to help sustain current projects and to provide for future ministry opportunities.

THE JUNGLE OF LA MOSQUITIA

Although Fito continued to make yearly mission trips to the La Mosquitia jungle, it wasn’t until 2020 after they had been hit by back-to-back hurricanes that God really began to call us to this area. We are sponsoring a pastor there, have purchased property and are working on a mission base to further our reach. Cool story: We now have former students from Mercy Christian Academy that are in training to be missionaries to the people of La Mosquitia. God is so good!
